Clerkenwell Apartment
When faced with daunting acres of developer’s white paint and a collection of empty ill proportioned rooms, our clients asked for help to bring some life and personality to their brand new home.
The living room only had one useable wall and lacked any focus so we designed and added a ‘chimney breast’ with a bioethinol fire for atmosphere and joinery for storage. The generous sofa floats in the room, anchored by the large rug, filling the space with a welcoming warmth of contrasting textures, while the palette is simple and unfussy.
We upped the glamour in the dining area with a horsehair wallcovering and sexy wall lights. The bespoke banquette in a rich velvet adds to the fun but the classic marble table is the real scene stealer. The space was not symetrical so we pushed out the far wall and designed a built in bar area rather than just have a free standing piece of furniture.
We were able to squeeze in a home office within a chicane in the main corridor by using some excess floorboards to make a floating desk and fitted some overhead storage and space saving wall task lights. More colour was added in the principal bedroom, replacing the basic beige carpet with a luxurious sage green and layering the colour tone from there leading to a fabulous wood veneer wallcovering on the headboard wall.
